Nathan East - Nathan East
Session bass player extraordinaire Nathan East finally came out with his own album. For those of you who think they've never heard of East, believe me, you've heard him. He's played on just about every top artists album since the early 80's. With almost 1500 records under his belt, he's worked with everyone from Elton John, Michael Jackson, George Harrison to Daft Punk, to name a few. He's also the bass behind Daft Punk's hit "Get Lucky" and wrote the Collins/Bailey hit "Easy Lover".
The album is a collection of instrumental and vocal original tunes and covers of some of East's favorites. Guest artists include Stevie Wonder on harmonica on "Overjoyed", vocals by Michael McDonald on Van Morrison's "Moondance", and Sara Bareilles does her take on the McDonald penned "I Can Let Go Now." Other guests include Bob James, Chuck Loeb (both who are East's partners in the band Fourplay), Eric Clapton, Ray Parker, Jr. David Paich, Vinnie Colauita, Ricky Lawson and Paulinho Da Costa.
What took you so long to come out with this album Mr. East? Rumor has it that the next album is already in the works. Here's hoping that I won't have to wait long for the next one.
