Today, we are incredibly thrilled to announce the arrival of a new Wunderkind. Yes, Chad Fowler joins us today as our Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Chad is one of the most talented engineers, mentors and managers we’ve ever met, so as you can imagine, we are beyond excited to welcome him on board!
For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Chad just yet, let’s start by introducing him. Hailing all the way from Washington DC, USA, Chad lands in Berlin having built and worked with some of the best engineering teams in the world. Chad brings with him more than 18 years of diverse experience in the field of software engineering and development. His last role was at LivingSocial as Senior Vice President of Technology. There, Chad was instrumental in growing and managing a world-class product development team which, among other accomplishments, delivered record-breaking e-commerce transaction volumes.
Chad is also a well-known leader in the Ruby community, having started and co-organized many Ruby-related conferences including The International Ruby Conference and RailsConf. He is also a published author, having written “The Passionate Programmer”, an inspiring read not only for programmers but for anyone who wants to build themselves a remarkable career. When Chad is not deep in code, presenting at a Ruby conference or penning his next book, he can be found performing at a jazz club. Before entering the world of technology, Chad played the saxophone professionally, though nowadays he can be more often found with a guitar in his arms. Pretty cool, right?! Chad's unique sense for technology and art, together with his experience in building fast growing consumer focused companies makes him the perfect addition to the 6Wunderkinder team.
As CTO Chad also forms part of the 6Wunderkinder Management Team. Along with Christian Reber (Founder and CEO), Steffen Kiedel (CFO) and Benedikt Lehnert (CMO) he will be responsible for devising and managing the overall ongoing strategy of the company. The focus is to become the clear category leader in task management, and we believe now more than ever that we have the right team in place to quickly make this a reality. In the coming weeks we are going to introduce brand new features, bring Wunderlist to even more platforms and roll out our business model.
Chad joins the team at an incredibly exciting time. In less than nine weeks, Wunderlist 2 has been downloaded by more than one million people across the globe and has seen the community create more than 3.4 millions lists and 20 million tasks. We believe this is just the beginning! Trust us, we have a lot more in store for you in 2013.
For now we must get back to work (and to maybe celebrate Chad’s arrival with a tiny bit of * dancing *). We will continue to keep you posted with everything new here, through our newsletter or on Twitter, Facebook and G+.
Welcome to the family, Chad!
