App of The Year 2013

December 30, 2013 — Reading time: 3 mins — Comments

2013 has been a phenomenal year for 6Wunderkinder. We started with the launch of Wunderlist 2 and now finished it with Wunderlist for Mac being named the App of the Year 2013. This feature celebrates the most remarkable, innovative and entertaining apps of the year. We feel incredibly honored to have been selected. Our iPhone and iPad apps also received recognition in Apple’s “Best of 2013”, in the category of Smart Productivity in more than 22 countries.

Before we start the new year I wanted to say thank you! Thank you for your support, feedback and encouragement. You’ve helped us to create a great product. Having achieved so much, I wanted to highlight the biggest milestones of the year and also give you an update on Wunderlist 3.

  • Wunderlist 2 arrived on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android and the Web
  • Wunderlist Pro - our first premium package - launched with Assigning, followed by Files and Comments
  • Wunderlist arrived on Chrome OS - Wunderlist for Chrome
  • Wunderlist expanded support to more than 30 languages
  • More than 20 people joined our team, including Chad Fowler as our new CTO
  • Sequoia, the most prestigious venture capital firm in the world, joined us as our new partner
  • Wunderlist more than doubled its user base from 3 to 6 million users
  • Daily activity increased by more than 500%
  • Wunderlist for Android was awarded the Editor’s Choice on Google Play

Personally, as a Founder, what we as a team have achieved this year has a special meaning. If you asked me just over a year ago if I’d thought we’d be where we are today, I wouldn’t have been so sure. We had just stopped the development of Wunderkit - the second product we launched after Wunderlist - and refocused the entire company on creating Wunderlist 2. The process of change wasn’t easy. We were all aware of the risks and the chance that it wasn’t going to end in success. Looking back though, it’s a decision that has paid off. There was a lot of learning, hard work and passion from our team and I’m truly humbled by what we’ve achieved in 2013.

But enough about the past - for us it’s all about the future. We’re on a mission to make Wunderlist an incredibly delightful product, that truly helps you organize your life and business. The last 12 months have helped us enormously. We now have an even clearer picture of what you want and in 2014, we plan to bring you many of the features and improvements you’ve been asking for.

Wunderlist3

Lately, we’ve been working away on our next release, Wunderlist 3. We not only want to make it the fastest, most lightweight and reliable release we’ve ever done, we also see it as a strong foundation to deliver many more features in future updates. Wunderlist 3 will have a brand-new design, real-time sync and include a public API. In terms of timing, we’ve already been using the first iterations of Wunderlist 3 internally. We plan to have a beta version ready early in the new year and expect to be able to launch around the end of the first quarter of 2014.

There are literally hundreds of reasons to be excited about this new release. We’re committed to bringing you many more innovative and surprising features throughout the next year. So, here’s to 2014, our most exciting year yet!
